Q: What are your hours of business?

A: Business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00. All house calls are by appointment only. After hours appointments may be scheduled on an individual basis, however additional fees will apply.


Q: What is the charge for a house call visit?

A: The house call fee is typically $35 to $65 depending on your location (mileage based). The house call fee covers travel expenses. Travel over 40 miles round trip from Crozet is billed at $2.00/mile.


Q: Is there an additional fee for the examination of my pet?

A: Yes. A consultation fee is in addition to the travel/house call fee.


Q: Where do you perform euthanasia’s?

A: We are flexible with regards to the location you choose. Ideally, the location will be quiet, fairly well lit and where you and your pet will be most comfortable. Outdoors is acceptable too.


Q: Do I have to be present for the euthanasia procedure?

A: No. This is entirely personal and optional. It is preferable for you to be present, but for some people this may be too difficult, and that is okay.


Q: Do you bill for your services?

A: No. Payment is due at the time of service.


Q: What types of payment do you accept?

A: We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and Discover.


Q: Do you offer surgery?

A: No, not at this time.


Q: What if you determine my pet needs medication?

A: We carry a supply of some commonly needed medications that we can prescribe to you at the time of our visit. All other medications can be ordered directly from our website and mailed right to your front door.


Q: What if my pet has an after-hours problem?

A: All life-threatening emergencies should be taken immediately to the closest veterinary hospital during the day and the closest veterinary emergency clinic at night. 


Q: What if my pet has an emergency?

A: Like you would for another family member, please don’t wait if you think this is a true emergency. Please call the Emergency clinic ASAP. The numbers are listed for your convenience.

Q: What if my pet had to go to an emergency clinic for care. Will you be able to provide follow up treatment?

A: Potentially. Please retain a copy of all information from the emergency clinic for us to review. When scheduling a follow up appointment please let us know the nature of the problem.


Q: If I have my pet euthanized at home, what will happen with his/her body?

A: We offer cremation services, and if requested, can provide your pet’s ashes in a personalized urn. We are here to help you through this difficult time with compassion and privacy.

Q: Do you offer cremation services for non-clients?

A: No, cremation aftercare services are only available to clients. Please contact your regular veterinarian during the day or emergency hospital on nights/weekends if you need cremation services for a pet that has passed away at home.
